Master Bi "Bi Laoshi!" shouted Victor. There was no reply. "Bi Laoshi!", Victor again shouted. The door of Guandi Temple opened as he responded, "Ai, here I am". At the door stood a white bearded man of youthful old age resembling Tolkien's Gandalf and thus, so too, did the door open for many foreigners to the Daoist World of China. Few people visited Bi Laoshi, who meditated in his old temple for many years. He was a Hermit of Wudang Mountain and had aroused much curoisity among foreigners and mountain folk alike. Afterall, Bi Laoshi is not merely an elderly man retiring in an old temple. He was formerly a highly respected teacherof Chinese Language. He retired early, suffering an ailment that caused his hands to tremble. Upon retirement, he journeyed to numerous mountains before settling on Wudang Mountain. Already having formed a good habit of exercise, he became even more deeply absorbed in the research of Daoist Internal Alchemy, reading and studying vigourously. He had a deep research into Dao De Jing ( Tao Te Ching, written by Lao Tze ) and as a result he has formed a method of Internal Alchemy that cured him of his physical ailment. He named his method "Laojun Gong" (Art of the Old Sage). Laojun is a respectful way to call Lao Tze (or Lao Zi). He is the caretaker in residence of Guandi Temple, where he practices Laojun Gong, writes calligraphy scrolls and creates beautiful paintings honouring Nature and the Dao. His temple is not far from the centre, so Bi laoshi has been invited as the Art, Calligraphy and Chinese Language Master at Wudang Taoist Culture Centre (WTCC ------ An article by a foreign practiser in Wudang Mountains in 2006
Long live Ħ ! Long long live ĦĦ!!! Chinese people would shout such wishes frequently in those days, each with a HONG BAO SHU (Red Precious Book) in hand and touching the chest. The book was a collection of the quotos from Mao, the Great Leader. He indeed lived long but far from WAN SUI. That was times of turbulence and it was hard for one to live peacefully. Here, what weĦŻre solomnly recommending to you is another HONG BAO SHU (Red Precious Book) . If the Red precious Book used many years ago indicates all wishing one live long and healthily, the Book being used now in Wudang Taoist Wellness Academy is wishing all to live in the way of SHOU FU KANG NING! The writer is Master Bi, the white bearded man of youthful age as described in the above article. He is 83 this year (2009). In China, there is a saying: Ren Guo Bashisan, Saiguo Huo Shenxian w hich means that once you are over 83, you can be called a living immortal. Lao Jun means OLD SAGE. This is a respectful way to call Lao Zi. Master Bi's Laojun Gong is right enlightened by Lao Zi's Dao De Jing (Tao Te Ching). |
